  • Dijon mustard (yellow mustard is an acceptable alternative).
  • Worcestershire sauce.
  • Garlic powder.
  • Poppy seeds (optional).
Ingredients

Supplies:

Layer the ham and cheese

Directions:

Preheat and prep the pan. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12×16 baking sheet with parchment paper.

Arrange the crackers. Place 48 Ritz crackers on the prepared baking sheet, flat side up.

Layer the ham and cheese
Cover the sandwich with another Ritz cracker

Layer ham and cheese. Place a square of deli ham on each cracker, then top with a cheese square sized to fit the cracker.

Top and seal. Cover each stack with a second Ritz cracker, flat side down, to form a sandwich.

Tip

If using packaged cheese and ham, stack the slices, place a Ritz cracker on top as a guide, and cut the stack into squares to fit the crackers—this is faster than trimming each slice individually.

Make the topping
Brush the tops of the sandwiches with the melted butter mixture and then sprinkle a pinch of poppy seeds over each sandwich.

Make the butter topping by whisking together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until smooth. Using a pastry brush, lightly coat the tops of each sandwich with the butter mixture. Sprinkle poppy seeds over the tops if desired.

Bake. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.

Cool and serve. Remove from the oven and let cool briefly so the cheese sets slightly, then serve warm.
