I’m excited to join Summer Craft Camp for the fifth year in a row. Between piano, sports, and after-school clubs, finding time to craft can be a challenge. Now that summer is here, we’re looking forward to a bit more time to relax and do things we want to do instead of only things we have to do.

This summer we’re focusing on two things: soaking up sun poolside and preparing for a big road trip to drop our oldest daughter off at college. I love to travel, and my camera is always nearby when we’re out creating memories. To kick off our summer of travel, the kids and I made these summer memory frames to display photos we’ll capture on our adventures.

How to make a summer memory picture frame:

Step 1: Gather all supplies and protect your work surface before using Mod Podge.

Step 2: If using patterned paper, trace the frame outline on the back of the paper, then carefully cut it out.

Step 3: Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the frame and lay the paper on top. Press gently and smooth out any air bubbles so the paper lies flat.

Step 4: Add stickers, buttons, ribbons, or other decorations. Buttons and small embellishments can be secured with Mod Podge. Once decorated, brush an even layer of Mod Podge over the entire front and sides of the frame and allow it to dry for about 30 minutes.

Step 5: Apply a second coat of Mod Podge over the whole frame and let it dry completely.

That’s all it takes. For just a few dollars and a little time, you’ll have a homemade memory frame to display summer photos. After summer, these personalized frames make thoughtful gifts for parents, teachers, grandparents, or friends—just choose decorations that match the recipient.
